The Farmers Field Day (FFD), held on 5 February 2026 in Gatsibo and Nyagatare districts, was organized by the National Seed Association of Rwanda (NSAR) in partnership with AGRISEEDS Ltd, with technical support from the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF). The event formed part of NSAR’s broader initiative to support member-led field demonstration and performance trial plots for hybrid maize varieties across different agro-ecological zones. Through guided field visits to AGRISEEDS Ltd demonstration plots, farmers and stakeholders observed and compared the agronomic performance, adaptability, and resilience of improved hybrid maize varieties under real farm conditions, strengthening confidence in certified quality seed.

The Field Day brought together farmers, agro-dealers, extension agents, local authorities, seed companies, and development partners, creating a practical platform for learning, exchange, and collaboration along the maize value chain. Key activities included technical explanations on varietal characteristics, interactive discussions, farmer-to-farmer experience sharing, and question-and-answer sessions with seed experts. The event contributed to increased farmer knowledge, enhanced visibility of NSAR member companies, strengthened linkages among stakeholders, and the promotion of climate-smart seed technologies, ultimately supporting increased adoption of quality seed and improved maize productivity in Eastern Rwanda.
